Schola Nova Silvana performs at Sheiling Ringwood

On Thursday 8th March 2018 Schola Nova Silvana presented their programme "Songs of Heaven" to a packed audience made up of students from the Sheiling SEN school as well as residents from the neighbouring Lantern community and their carers. The Sheiling Eurythmy Hall with its beautiful resonant acoustic was the perfect venue for this musical journey through the story of Lent, Holy Week and Easter. The event was made all the more special as the singers were joined by Michele Keim (eurythmy) and Christopher Kidman (recitation) who performed English translations of the Latin chant texts to the delight of our audience. Many students and residents came up to the singers afterwards, commenting on the beautiful singing and wishing us a "Happy Easter"! This was Schola's first engagement at the Sheiling and it was very much enjoyed by all our singers. We hope we can return soon to this wonderful venue and its special audience!

Event in Southampton - Saturday 10th March 2018

We at Schola Nova Silvana love singing Gregorian chant, so we are excited to offer anyone with an interest in chant, this wonderful opportunity to attend a chant workshop led by Dr. Fabian Lochner. An expert in Gregorian chant, Dr. Lochner offers a unique approach to teaching and singing this ancient music. All are welcome, with or without experience of chant singing. Come along to St. Michael’s church on the 10th March and discover in depth the joy of singing this glorious music.

Following the workshop, you are invited to join Schola Nova Silvana in performing a selection of Gregorian Easter chants. This performance will also feature the poetry of Hilary Stobbs, read by Christopher Kidman. There will be a short break for refreshments between the workshop and concert with the whole event ending at around 7.15pm.
There are some disabled parking spaces in Bugle Street, close to the church; otherwise parking is available at The Quays car park and other city centre car parks.

Our First Outing

For our first outing as a chant choir we visited both Wimborne St Giles and Chalbury to sing in these beautiful Dorset churches.
